Novotel Moscow City

Novotel Moskau

ENGLISH VERSION HERE

Lage:

Novotel Moscow City. Short distances, not only for business travellers

Novotel Moscow City

Novotel Moscow City

The Novotel Moscow City, located in the heart of the Moscow City International Business Center, opened only recently in February 2013. We were guests there for two nights in August. The Novotel is, compared to the surrounding hotels, rather low with its eight floors. The semi-circular building fits in well with the surrounding skyscrapers. The lobby has a modern design and there is lots of space for the arriving guest. It was a quick and competent welcome at the front desk and the page was immediately on the spot to escort us to our room on the 8th floor. Subsequently, another compliment: the hotel provides free WiFi on the rooms, in the lobby and in the restaurant. As is customary in Novotel hotels, they also provide a few iMacs for the guests in the lobby and in the meeting area. Because the hotel focuses on business travellers, there is also a very modern area for events and meetings with eight rooms that can be combined in different ways and provide the newest technology. The hotel bar is visually very appealing and includes an interesting beer cabinet. We didn’t put it to the test, though.

Room:
The room is quite spacious and the design is also very nice. It differs a bit from the familiar standards of other Novotel hotels. It is more elegant, but in the usual plain colours. The bathroom has a nice shape, the shower is spacious and the highlight is the swing door, which is part of the wall. We were on the 8th, the highest, floor and because of the big floor-to-ceiling panorama windows, our room was very bright. We had a great view of the Moskva and the surrounding buildings, which were partly still under construction. In conclusion: a modern and perfectly cleaned room (even on the second day) that includes the main standards like flatscreen TV, safe and a water kettle with coffee and tea.

Breakfast:
The breakfast buffet is good. It provides the usual European standards and traditional Russian food like kefir. Unfortunately, the staff wasn’t quite well attuned yet and sometimes there was a lack of glasses, which is why a guest had to drink his orange juice out of a cup. They took a bit too long to refill the bread or the plates. Hopefully, the new team will be attuned perfectly and have a better overview in a few months.

Wellness/ Fitness:
A small but well equipped fitness room with the newest treadmills etc. The hotel also offers one sauna and one hammam each for women and men. They can enjoy the soft music in the relaxation room together again, though. It is all very clean and in good condition.

Location:
In the heart of the new business centre, the Moscow City International Business Center, surrounded by up to 400 metres high business buildings and in close vicinity to the Expocenter, the hotel is made for business clients.

But there are also Russian and international tourists sitting at the breakfast tables, as the hotel is only a few kilometres away from the city centre. Two Metro stations within walking distance and there are 4 to 5 stations between there and the heart of the metropolis. The Metro takes you directly to the main entrance of the Kremlin. Therefore, the connection to the airports is good, too. The Afi Mall with its shops and a modern supermarket are a part of the building complex. Who wants to go for a jog or a walk has the Moskya right in front of the door and the White House and one of the eight Stalin houses in 2,5 kilometres distance are good for sightseeing. Attention, they are still constructing day and night in the business district, but the rooms have a good outward isolation, so we heard only a little bit of the noise.

To sum up, I can say that the new Novotel Moscow City is not only eligible for business travellers. The distance to the Metro and thus to the touristic highlights is absolutely ok and the 15-20 minutes didn’t bother us tourists. The hotel’s modern design convinced us and creates a sophisticated but modern atmosphere.

We were supported by the Novotel Moscow City during our stay. All opinions are our own ones.
